Saltpond Leaders Rally Citizens For Communal Labor Ahead Of Festivals.

Saltpond, Central Region – In anticipation of the upcoming Homecoming and Ayireye festivals, the leadership of Saltpond, in conjunction with the Mfantseman Municipal Assembly, has issued a strong appeal to all citizens to actively participate in communal labor initiatives.
The call comes as the town gears up for events aimed at fostering development and unity within the community.
Hon. Ernest Egyir Degraft, President of the Mfantseman Saltpond Development Alliance (MSDA), has spearheaded efforts to mobilize residents.
He expressed satisfaction with the turnout for recent cleanup exercises, deeming them a “massive success.” Degraft emphasized that festivals are pivotal occasions for progress and development, and collective participation is key to achieving these goals.
“This homecoming is a vital opportunity for development, unity, and growth in our community,” stated Degraft.
“Festivals are designed to be catalysts for progress, and we are counting on the active involvement of every resident to make this one truly impactful.”
However, a significant challenge has emerged concerning the provision of adequate cleanup equipment for these vital exercises.
The Municipal Assembly acknowledges that it cannot shoulder this responsibility alone. Consequently, residents are urged to contribute from their own households by providing necessary cleaning supplies for future communal work.
“We have seen a tremendous spirit of cooperation, but the challenge of equipment availability is real,” a spokesperson for the MSDA noted.
“For our next exercise, we implore everyone to bring whatever cleaning tools and materials they can from home. This shared responsibility will ensure our cleanup efforts continue to be effective and that our town is presented at its best for the festivals.”
The leadership is hopeful that this call to action will resonate with the community, ensuring a well-prepared and vibrant celebration for both the Homecoming and Ayereye festivals.
The paramount chief of Saltpond, Nana Gyan Akwanda, has emphasized the significant role of communal labor in enhancing the town’s attractiveness, particularly in anticipation of the upcoming festival and homecoming.
He stated that these collective efforts are not only vital for making the town appealing but also for creating lasting historical memories for citizens returning to their home cities.
Nana Akwanda further highlighted Saltpond Akyemfo’s historically rich reputation in tourism and its past significance as a political party headquarters for Ghana.
However, he expressed concern that the town has lagged in development, attributing this stagnation to the destructive influence of politics on local progress, which has resulted in a visible lack of development around the town.
Some citizens of saltpond Akyemfo, also emphasizes how communal labour has brought development into the community, but little challenges their facing is equipment or tools during clean up exercise and other side of challenge their going through, is their bridge, it has been collapsed 4 years ago so their appealing to individuals, assembly members, municipal assembly to help them fixed it before of their festival.
