Central East Police Arrest Pig Thief Over Sale Of 50 Stolen Pigs, At Kasoa,Two Others With 6 Parcels O Weed.
The Central East Regional Police Command has arrested a 35-year-old man, Evans Pinkra, popularly known as Kwame Agyei, for allegedly stealing 50 live pigs and selling them to pork joints at Amuzukope in the Awutu Senya East Municipality of the Central Region.
Addressing a press conference, the Central East Regional Police Commander, DCOP Francis Nchor, revealed that the suspect, who worked as a caretaker at a piggery farm at Amuzukope, allegedly stole the pigs and sold them to various buyers.
According to the Regional Commander, Evans Pinkra has since been arrested and prosecuted.
He disclosed that the Kasoa Ofaakor Circuit Court convicted the suspect and sentenced him to five months in prison.
In related development, the Central East Regional Police Command has arrested two persons for allegedly possessing parcels of suspected cannabis.
DCOP Francis Nchor said on September 20, at about 2:30 a.m., police personnel conducting a snap check at Kasoa High Tension intercepted a Voxy minibus.
He said a search of the vehicle led to the discovery of six parcels of suspected cannabis.
The two suspects, identified as Asandoo Asakra and Beatrice Amegashie, have been arrested and remanded into police custody, according to the Regional Police Commander.
