Government To Commence A New SIM Registration – Minister For Communication, Digital Technology And Innovation, Hon. Samuel Narttey George

Mr Samuel Narttey George during his first quarter press briefing stated that his government will commence a public sensitization and education towards the impending SIM registration and central equipment identity register.
He said this time around Ghanaians would not be saddled with having to abandon work and queue for a long hours to register their SIM.
The process would be human centered and technology driven, Hon. Samuel Narttey George.
He made it clear that this registration is critical for our collective security as a nation.
The Honourable Minister Mr Samuel Narttey George emphasized that he has engaged with the CEOs of the three MNOs, and he is pleased to announce that all the three have presented the ministry and regulator with specific improved data bundles for tertiary students across the country, as well as content creation and gig economy demographics.
He said in the coming days the NCA will finalize the implementation and technical requirements with the relevant stakeholders for a public rollout.
Mr Samuel Narttey George said in the interim he has agreed with the three network operators to have a unique data bundle packages for all subscribers on five national holidays, Independence Day, May Day, Republic Day , Founders Day and Farmers Day.
Mr Samuel Narttey George also said his government will launch the one million coders program with piloting covering Greater Accra, Ashanti Region, Bono, and Upper East Region on April 16th 2025, which will mark the fulfilment of their campaign promise to Ghanaians.
The program will be inclusive by design, with an integrated 50/50 gender split.
