WN/R Five Persons Injured As Youth Clash With Galamseyers Operating In Afao Forest Reserve
Five people have been injured at Sehwi Nkatieso in the Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai municipality of the Western North region while resisting galamsey activity in Afao forest reserve.
Speaking to the media, the residents of Anhwiaso confirmed that five people have been injured and admitted at the Anhweaso Community hospital receiving treatment. The unfortunate incident happened when a section of the youth clashed with the illegal miners operating in Afao forest reserve.
They further appealed to authorities to intervene as the activity of the illegal miners has become a threat to their lives in the area.
Meanwhile, the member of parliament for Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai, Alfred Obeng Boateng, assured the community that they would liaise with the security to withdraw all the galamsey equipment from the forest.
