Omanhene Urges Chiefs To Apply Traditonal By-Laws In Rulings.

The Omanhene of the Ajumako Traditional Area, Omanhene Nyarfo Kramper XI, has issued a strong call to all chiefs within the traditional jurisdiction to strictly adhere to established traditional by-laws in the execution of their duties, particularly in the settlement of disputes and delivery of rulings.

According to the Omanhene, the consistent application of customary laws remains the backbone of effective traditional governance and plays a vital role in maintaining peace, unity, and order within communities.

He emphasized that deviation from these long-standing principles not only undermines the authority of the chieftaincy institution but also creates confusion and mistrust among the people.

Omanhene Nyarfo Kramper XI made these remarks during an in-service training session organized for newly sworn-in chiefs who assumed office barely two weeks ago.

The training formed part of efforts by the Traditional Council to equip the new chiefs with the requisite knowledge, skills, and ethical grounding needed to carry out their responsibilities effectively.

Addressing the gathering, the Omanhene noted that chieftaincy is not merely a position of honor but one of great responsibility that requires wisdom, fairness, and a deep understanding of customary practices.

He urged the chiefs to remain committed to upholding the values and traditions handed down by their ancestors, stressing that these principles have stood the test of time and continue to guide the social and cultural fabric of the people.

He further explained that traditional by-laws serve as a guide in adjudicating cases ranging from land disputes to family conflicts and other community-related issues.

As such, chiefs must familiarize themselves with these laws and apply them diligently and impartially, without fear or favor.

The Omanhene also cautioned against the influence of external pressures, including political interference and personal interests, which he said could compromise the integrity of their rulings.

He advised the chiefs to remain neutral at all times and to prioritize justice and fairness in their decision-making processes.

In addition to matters of governance and dispute resolution, Omanhene Nyarfo Kramper XI used the opportunity to highlight the critical role of chiefs in promoting development within their communities.

He particularly underscored the importance of education, describing it as a key driver of progress and transformation.

He called on the newly installed chiefs to take a keen interest in the state of education in their respective areas by supporting schools, encouraging enrollment, and collaborating with relevant authorities to improve infrastructure and learning conditions.

According to him, an educated population is better positioned to contribute meaningfully to community development and national growth.

The Omanhene further encouraged chiefs to work closely with parents, teachers, and stakeholders to address challenges such as school dropout, lack of teaching materials, and inadequate facilities.

He stressed that traditional leaders have a unique influence that can be leveraged to inspire positive change and promote a culture of learning among the youth.

Participants at the training session were taken through various topics, including traditional leadership ethics, conflict resolution, customary law, and community engagement.

Resource persons also emphasized the need for documentation and proper record-keeping in handling cases, to ensure transparency and accountability.

Ultimately, the Omanhene expressed confidence that with discipline, commitment, and adherence to traditional by-laws, the newly installed chiefs will contribute significantly to peace, stability, and development within the Ajumako Traditional Area.

End.
