Court Jails Two Invigilators And Two Teachers For Examination Malpractice.

The Twifo Praso District Magistrate Court in the Twifo Atti-Morkwa District of the Central Region, presided over by His Worship Cephas Atidzoe Esq., has sentenced two invigilators and two teachers to a fine of GH¢3,000 each or, in default, one year imprisonment for engaging in examination malpractice during the 2026 BECE examinations at their respective centres.
The convicts are Mr. David Kwabena Mensah, Mrs. Ruth Ampah, Mrs. Millicent Marfo, and Mr. Kennedy Anokye.
According to the prosecution, Mr. David Kwabena Mensah was found guilty of leaking examination questions, contrary to Section 4(b) of the West African Examinations Council Act, 2006.
The 38-year-old reportedly used a mobile phone to photograph an examination paper and shared it on WhatsApp.
Mrs. Ruth Ampah was also found guilty of assisting candidates by dictating answers to them, thereby breaching Section 20(1) of the Criminal Offences Act as well as Sections 6 and 9 of the West African Examinations Council Act, 2006.
Mrs. Millicent Marfo and Mr. Kennedy Anokye were convicted of conspiring to unlawfully possess examination materials, contrary to Section 23 of the Criminal Offences Act and Section 3 of the West African Examinations Council Act.
The two committed the offence at the Twifo Praso Senior High School Examination Centre.
The court convicted all four accused persons based on their own guilty pleas.
