Search For Missing Farmer on River Fum Suspended After Two-Day Rescue Effort Ends Unsuccessfully.

The search for 49-year-old farmer Isaac Buckman, who went missing after a canoe carrying five farmers capsized on River Fum at Assin Dansame in the Assin North District of the Central Region, has been suspended after two days of intensive rescue efforts proved unsuccessful.

Officials from the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), led by the Assin North District Director, Mr. Edward Fireson, joined traditional leaders, personnel from the Ghana Police Service, and dedicated youth from Assin Dansame and Assin Praso in an extensive search operation on the river.

Despite hours of coordinated efforts and repeated attempts to locate the missing farmer in the water, the search team was unable to retrieve him.

Speaking to Angel News, the Akyeamehene of Assin Dansame, Nana Kwame Bosompim, disclosed that the missing farmer was wearing Wellington boots and carrying a backpack loaded with goods at the time of the incident, a situation he believes may have caused him to sink deeper beneath the water.

He further revealed that a fetish priest was invited on Thursday to perform traditional rituals believed to aid in the recovery process, but the efforts did not yield any results.

According to Nana Kwame Bosompim, the search operation is expected to resume tomorrow morning alongside another round of ritual performances in hopes of retrieving the body.

The incident occurred when a canoe transporting five farmers across the river overturned, throwing all occupants into the water.

Four of the victims were rescued, while Isaac Buckman remains missing.
