Police Arrest Suspected Robber After Months On The Run In Assin Fosu.

Police in Assin Fosu have arrested a suspected robber who allegedly evaded capture for several months after attacking and seriously injuring a local farmer during a robbery incident.
The suspect, identified as Kofi Awuakye, an unemployed resident of Assin Fosu, has been charged with unlawful entry, unlawful use of an offensive weapon, and causing harm.
He has since been arraigned before the Assin Fosu District Court to answer the charges.
According to police records, the incident occurred in the early hours of October 29, 2025, when the complainant, Kwabena Atta, a farmer residing in Assin Fosu, was allegedly awakened by unusual noises coming from his room.
The complainant told police that upon investigating, he found the suspect inside his residence allegedly ransacking his belongings while armed with a knife.
He reportedly raised an alarm for help, but the suspect allegedly attacked him with the weapon, inflicting multiple wounds on his body, including injuries to his right shoulder and back.
The suspect subsequently fled the scene before he could be apprehended by the complainant and residents who responded to the distress call.
Following the attack, Mr. Atta was issued with a Police Medical Report Form and sought treatment for the injuries he sustained.
He later submitted the endorsed medical report to assist police investigations.
After months of searching for the suspect, a breakthrough was made on June 3, 2026, when the complainant reportedly spotted Kofi Awuakye at the Adiembra Lorry Station in Assin Fosu.
With the assistance of members of the public, the suspect was arrested and handed over to the police.
During interrogation, the suspect denied any involvement in the alleged offences.
However, police say subsequent investigations led to his prosecution on charges of unlawful entry, unlawful use of an offensive weapon, and causing harm.
The case is currently before the Assin Fosu District Court for hearing.
