Toase District Court Strikes Out Case Involving Teacher And student Opt For Amicable Settlement.

A case involving professional teacher Eric Buernortey Apaflo and a final Year student at Nyinahin Catholic Senior high school (NCASS) over unpaid hostel fees that went viral on social media has been struck out by the toase district court in the Atwima Nwahiagya South of the ashanti region.

The court discharged the matter today after the prosecutor told the court that the case should be withdrawn, citing instructions received from above.

According to details from the court proceedings, the prosecutor informed the court that he had received a call from higher authorities regarding the matter. The intervention followed efforts by the national leadership of the teacher union, including the National President prosper Takyi and General Secretary Musa Tanko, who took up the issue and engaged the police hierarchy. The police hierarchy, after understanding the position of the union leaders, agreed to the withdrawal.

The court subsequently struck out the case and directed that the matter be settled amicably at home. The family of the student has also approached the police and agreed that the issue between the teacher and the student should be resolved through settlement rather than continued court action.

District leadership, members, and other executives of the union who stood in solidarity with the teacher expressed relief at the court’s decision.

After the court proceedings The Ashanti Regional GNAT Chairman Prof. Elvis Binney cautioned the public, civil society, and community members against further accusations or threats toward the teacher.

He stressed that the matter had ended in court and any remaining issues would be handled internally through settlement at the house.

Union officials warned that the teacher enjoys the full backing of his colleagues and that any attempt to harm or intimidate him would be treated as an attack on all teachers.

Meanwhile the Ashanti Regional GNAT Secretary Mr Daniel Atakora also had this to say and expressed their profound appreciation to their National Executives
