Residents, Commercial Vehicle Operators Lament Over Asankragwa, Bekwai To Kumasi Deplorable Road, Call On Government For Intervention.

A Concerned Member Of The Amenfi West Citizen Network, a Pressure Group Dedicated To Development In The Western Region, *MR. ROBERT SEY*, Has Raised Significant Challenges Affecting Residents And Commercial Vehicle Operators Travelling From Asankragwa, Bekwai, To Kumasi.
According To Robert, Residents, Commercial, And Private Vehicle Operators Get Stranded Whenever The Road Floods, With No Option But To Wait, Hinting That The Cause Of The Flooding Is Linked To A Mini Bridge Constructed By Authorities.
He suggested that the authorities should reconsider the side of the old bridge when constructing the new one for motorists, thereby preventing flooding on the road that often strands them during rain, which makes daily activities difficult.
Furthermore, Mr Robert Noted That The Leaders Have Decided Not To Undertake Any Development For The Residents.
Notwithstanding, he emphasised that there is no good road network in wassa amenfi, hence pleading with the government to Review The Situation And Assist Them.
He Indicated That Their Plea Is Not To Discredit The Government Or Oppose Them, But Rather Because Of The Good Produce That Leaves Wassa Amenfi Without Any Benefit To The Local People.
He Stated That Their Concern Is Based On What Leaves The Municipality To Feed The Country, Without Receiving Anything In Return To Benefit The Residents.
Our Reporter, Benjamin Bray “Great Pablo,” Who Was In The Area To Gather Firsthand Information, Learned That The Ministry Of Roads and Highways Under The Government Of The Republic Of Ghana Awarded The Contract For The Asankragwa, Bekwai To Kumasi Road To “M/S MEMPHIS METROPOLITAN LIMITED,” With Funding From The Government Of Ghana’s “Consolidated Fund.”
Meanwhile, Motorists Interviewed By Our Reporter, “Great Pablo,” Complained About The Poor Condition Of The Road, With No Apparent Intervention From The Government, Member Of Parliament, Municipal Chief Executive, Or Other Opinion Leaders.
One Vehicle Operator Noted That, In Times Like These, “DRIP Machines” Could Be Used To Improve The Road, But Could Not Specify What Work They Are Being Used For, As They Suffer On The Badly Degraded Road Full Of Potholes.
He Continued That The Government Should Appoint A Road Contractor To Reconstruct The Road To End Their Daily Suffering.
Other Motorists Lamented That The Deplorable, Flood-prone Road Forces Them To Escort Pregnant Wives Through Bushy Paths On Motorbikes, Which Causes Them Fear.
A Taxi Driver, Identified As Essien, Whose Vehicle’s New Tyre Burst Due To The Poor Road Condition, Told Our Reporter That They Face Significant Stress.
He Urged The Government To Reconstruct And Raise The Bridge Higher To Prevent Flooding Along That Section Of Road.
Essien Hinted That If The Government Does Not Intervene With The Bridge, They Might Organise Demonstrations To Raise Awareness Of Their Hardships. He Also Called On Traditional Leaders To Join In Advocating For Government Action.
