Drug Den And Prostitution At Asafo BB Has Been Arrested By Ashanti Regional Police Commander.

The Ashanti Regional Police Command has commenced investigations into allegations against a Chief Inspector stationed in the region for allegedly owning unauthorized wooden structures at Asafo BB* and renting them out to commercial sex workers.
The Command in a press release on Friday signed by head of Public Affairs, Suprentendent Godwin Ahianyo says it takes the matter seriously and will update the public as investigations progress.
“The Command takes the allegations seriously and wishes to assure the public that further developments following the investigations will be communicated,”.
The probe comes days after the Mayor of Kumasi, Hon. Richard Ofori Agyemang Boadi, publicly alleged that some police officers in the region own structures in the Asafo enclave that are being used for prostitution and the sale of hard drugs.
“My understanding is that there are some police officers who own structures there. I am told those structures are used for prostitution and the sale of hard drugs,” the Mayor stated during a demolition exercise by the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly [KMA] behind the Adum COCOBOD building near the Asafo Overpass.
The Mayor said he had taken steps to formally report the said officers to the Ashanti Regional Police Command.
KMA insists the demolition exercise will continue until all unauthorized squatters are removed from the area to restore order in the Central Business District.
The Police Command has not named the Chief Inspector under investigation, but says it is committed to ensuring accountability and will act based on the findings of the probe.
End.
