Mob Justice Claims Life Of 27-Year-Old At Sabon Zongo As Police Arrest 1 Suspect.

Tragedy has struck at Sabon Zongo in the Asokore Mampong Municipality of the Ashanti region after a 27-year-old man, Yussif Zakari, died following a brutal assault by a group of nine people over allegations of theft.

The incident has sparked outrage in the community, with residents and family members demanding justice and an end to mob justice.

According to the mother of the deceased, her son and another young man were accused of stealing money. The two were allegedly tied to a tree and beaten mercilessly by the mob.

“My son has not stolen anything. They tied two of them to a tree and beat them like animals. Now my son is dead. All I want is justice,” she said in tears.

The mother insisted that Yussif was innocent and that the mob had no right to take the law into their own hands.

The second victim survived the attack and is currently receiving treatment at the hospital. His condition is said to be stable.

The Assemblyman for New Zongo Electoral Area, Alhaji Bawah, has condemned the attack and described it as barbaric.

He confirmed that police have arrested one of the nine suspects involved in the assault.

“We have arrested one out of the nine people who assaulted them. The police are on the ground and we will make sure every single one is arrested and faces the law,” he assured.

Alhaji Bawah urged residents to desist from mob justice and rather report suspected criminals to the police for due process.
