Our Lives Are In Danger” — Pepease Residents Appeal As Huge Pit On Kwaman Road Swallows Cars Daily.

Residents of Pepease in the Sekyere Kumawu District have bitterly expressed concern over the lack of development in the community, warning that poor infrastructure, especially schools and roads, is endangering lives and affecting education.

According to the residents, their schools are facing serious challenges, including congestion and the need for major renovation works.

Community members, through their own communal efforts, have managed to put up two new classrooms to ease the pressure, but the project has stalled as they lack doors and windows to complete the structure.

In addition, they have started building a community library up to the roofing level, but the project has also been abandoned due to lack of funds.

The residents say without external support from government and stakeholders, the projects cannot be completed, leaving school children to study under difficult conditions.

Beyond the challenges in education, residents say the deplorable state of roads in Pepease is their greatest worry.

They describe the town roads as completely deteriorated, making movement difficult, especially during the rainy season.

The situation is even more dire on the main road from Kwaman to Pepease, which they say has become a death trap.

Residents revealed that a huge open pit alongside the road has been claiming lives daily, as vehicles and tricycles, popularly known as Pragia often veer off and fall into the ditch.

“Just today we received information that a car has somersaulted into the pit.

This happens almost everyday. Our lives are in danger,” the residents lamented.

They are therefore calling on government, through the Department of Urban Roads, to urgently fix metal guard rails or plates along the stretch to prevent further accidents and protect drivers and pedestrians.

Residents say they have made several appeals to the District Chief Executive for Sekyere Kumawu, Hon. Kwasi Amankwaa, popularly known as Tom C, but nothing has been done to address their plight.

Meanwhile, the Assembly Member for Pepease Electoral Area, Hon. Lawrence Adusei Okyere, is expected to join the discussion on phone via 0245918913 to provide further insight into the situation.

The District Chief Executive, Hon. Kwasi Amankwaa (Tom C), will also be joining the conversation on phone to respond to the concerns raised by residents.
