Best Farmer To Receive GH¢1.2 Million, Brand-New Pick-Up And Farming Machinery – Agric Minister.

The Minister for Food and Agriculture, Hon. Eric Opoku, has announced an enhanced prize package for the 2026 National Best Farmer.
According to the Minister, the Overall National Best Farmer will receive GH¢1.2 million cash from ADB Bank, a brand-new 4×4 pick-up vehicle, a tractor with accessories, and assorted farming inputs and machinery.
He said the award package is to make farming attractive and to ensure Ghanaian farmers become rich like their counterparts in foreign countries.
Hon. Eric Opoku made this known when speaking at the Kwadaso Agricultural College in Kumasi, in the Ashanti Regional.
He noted that the government’s Feed Ghana Programme has significantly improved food production in the country, with Ghana producing more maize than the national demand.
This, he said, is part of efforts to transform agriculture from subsistence to a profitable business venture.
The Minister further revealed that as part of this year’s Farmers’ Day celebration, Chiefs who have excelled in promoting agriculture will also be awarded as Best Chief in Agriculture.
In addition, the six agricultural colleges in the country will be assessed, and the best college in practical agriculture will receive an award.
Hon. Opoku added that this year’s National Farmers’ Day, scheduled for December 4, 2026, in Sunyani, Bono Region, will be full of awards for farmers across all categoriesa.
