Police Launch Manhunt After Armed Robbery Attack In Mpohor

The Western Regional Police Command has mounted a manhunt for a gang of armed robbers who attacked a gold-buying shop in the Mpohor District on Saturday, August 16, 2025.

One suspect has been arrested and is assisting with investigations, while efforts are underway to apprehend the remaining suspects.

According to eyewitnesses, the robbers stormed the township heavily armed, outnumbering the police and making away with an undisclosed amount of money.

The attack left one person injured, who is currently responding to treatment.

The incident sparked fear among residents, with many shop owners locking up their businesses and fleeing for safety.

“All shops are closed fearing attack,” one resident told our reporter Nanafynn, while another added, “My wife closed her shop and is hiding somewhere.”

The Member of Parliament for Mpohor, Kofi Bentil, confirmed the incident and urged swift security intervention to restore calm in the area.
