Western Region Court Remands 12 In Illegal Mining Case Following Damage To Railway Infrastructure

The Tarkwa Circuit Court presided over by her honor Hartia AMA Manu has remanded 12 individuals into custody for allegedly engaging in illegal mining activities that caused significant damage to portions of the Takoradi–Nsuta railway line in the Western Region.

The suspects — Dennis Adom, Alex Kofi Acquah, Kwame Simon, Isaac Arhin, Larri Koku, Lambon Moyisi, Ali Asoma, Nurudeen Kobina, Jude Azumah, Yendari Mombe, Jonathan Ayamdor, and Daniel Combat — have been charged with conspiracy to commit a crime, undertaking mining operations without a license, and causing unlawful damage.

In proceedings held on Tuesday, the court, presided over by Her Ladyship, Hartia Ana Manu did not take the pleas of the accused persons.

The docket has been forwarded to the Attorney General’s Office for advice.

The 12 have been remanded into custody for two weeks and are expected to reappear before the court on 22 nd October 2025.
