Senya Bereku Queenmother Calls For Peace, Development After Chieftaincy Dispute Ruling

Naase Nkwanta Otuba III, the Paramount Queenmother of Senya Bereku Traditional Area in the Gomoa East District, expressed deep concern about the negative impact the dispute has had on the community.
She urged that the ruling serve as a call for unity and togetherness among all stakeholders, emphasizing that no one should use the decision to further discord.
The legal chieftaincy dispute began two years when Nenyi Ampoba Kweku Issiw (VI) Paramount Chief, (a petitioner) petitioned the Central Regional House of Chiefs to affirm his position after a group of kingmakers, known locally as Supi, challenged his 40yrs enthronement.
The Supi claimed that they were not involved in Nenyi Ampabo Kweku Issiw VI’s installation, thus declaring it problematic.
She appeal after Judiciary Committee of the Central Regional House of Chiefs in Cape Coast has officially declared Nenyi Ampabo Kweku Issiw VI as the rightful Paramount Chief of the Senya Bereku Traditional Area.
Counsel for the petitioner, Lawyer Kweku Simpson, speaking to the media after the ruling, expressed satisfaction with the committee’s decision after the council agreed with them that the purported enthronement by the Supi is void, therefore, the current Paramount Chief who has reign for 24yrs should continue to reign as the only legitimate chief in the Senya Bereku Traditional Area,” he stated.
Residents of Senya Bereku, some of whom attended the regional house proceedings, appealed to both parties to accept the ruling and work collaboratively.
They emphasized the need to place the traditional area back on the path of rapid growth and community development.
End.
