Two Die In Early Morning Crash On Cape Coast–Takoradi Highway

Two persons have been confirmed dead following a tragic road traffic accident on the Cape Coast–Takoradi Highway at Abakam in the early hours of Tuesday, 23rd December 2025.

The Elmina Fire Station received a distress call at about 5:11 a.m. reporting a collision involving a Toyota Corolla with registration number GS 2455-25 and a Sprinter bus, registration number WR 316-24.

Upon arrival at the scene, rescue personnel found that the two vehicles had collided, resulting in multiple casualties.

Fourteen injured persons had already been rescued and rushed to hospital before the arrival of the fire service team.

Of the number, four were sent to the University of Cape Coast (UCC) Hospital, while ten others were taken to the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital for medical attention.

Fire service personnel swiftly worked to clear debris from the road to prevent further accidents and restore free flow of traffic on the busy highway.

A follow-up by the rescue team at the health facilities later confirmed that two out of the four victims admitted to the UCC Hospital had succumbed to their injuries.

Both vehicles involved in the crash sustained partial damage. The cause of the accident is yet to be officially determined as investigations continue.

The incident adds to growing concerns over road safety on the Cape Coast–Takoradi stretch, particularly during the early morning hours.

End.
