Parents Urged To Reclaim Childcare Role Amid Rising Social Challenges

The Asafoanye of Papaatse-We in the Tema Manhean, Naa Brenya, has admonished parents to make a conscious effort to spend quality time with their children and adequately cater for their needs to help raise responsible and disciplined future leaders.

According to her, the demands of modern life and the rapid industrial evolution of the 21st century have increasingly drawn parents away from their homes, with many prioritising work commitments over family life.

She noted that as a result, many children are left in the care of nannies, television, and social media, exposing them to various social vices and negative influences.

Naa Brenya stressed that the responsibility of raising morally upright children cannot be left solely to the government, urging parents to take full responsibility for the upbringing and guidance of their wards.

She made these remarks at the Kidi Fest, a children’s end of year party programme held at Tema Newtown, which she organised in collaboration with the Assemblyman for the area, Sumaila Adjetey Agabby.

On his part, the Assemblyman for the Oklor-Kofi Electoral Area, Sumaila Adjetey Agabby, raised concerns about persistent water challenges in the community and appealed to the government for urgent intervention to address the situation.

He also advised the youth to stay away from drug abuse and smoking, warning that such habits could derail their future and limit their potential.
