Donkoto Residents Urged To Cultivate A Strong Maintenance Culture After Receiving Teachers’ Bungalow From Ekom Co-operative Small Scale Mining

Ekom Eya Co-operative Small Scale Mine has officially handed over a six-room teachers’ bungalow to Donkoto Angelican Basic School in the Atwima Mponuah District of the Ashanti Region.

The project is aimed at addressing accommodation challenges faced by teachers in the area and forms part of the company’s corporate social responsibility initiatives to improve education and social development within its host communities.

The brief but well-attended ceremony at Donkoto brought together traditional leaders, education officials, community members, and representatives of the mining company, DCE of Atwima Mponua nada delegation from minerals commission.

The Chairman of Ekom Eya Co-operative Small Scale Mine Mr. Adu Gyamfi, described education as a key pillar of national development, noting that decent accommodation for teachers would boost morale, improve retention, and enhance academic performance at the school.

He reaffirmed the company’s commitment to projects that deliver lasting benefits to communities.

The District Chief Executive for Atwima Mponuah, Honorable Isshaq Ibrahim, praised the company for the timely intervention, describing it as a major contribution to education in the district.

He emphasized that investment in education yields long-term benefits and commended Ekom Eya Co-operative Small Scale Mine for operating responsibly and in compliance with small-scale mining regulations.

He also appealed to the company to consider supporting the expansion of the Ashiresu CHPS Compound to improve healthcare delivery.

The Chief of Donkoto, Nana Kwame Awuah the II, expressed gratitude on behalf of the traditional authority and the community, assuring that the bungalow would be well maintained for present and future teachers.

The initiative has been widely praised as a positive step toward strengthening education and development in the Atwima Mponuah District.
