NADMO Urges Traders To Stay Vigilant At Market Places During Harmattan Season

The Kumasi Metro NADMO Coordinator, Godwin Dela Lahor, is urging traders and residents to be vigilant during this dry season as devastating fires continue to sweep through markets.

Recent incidents include a blaze at Anwona Market, destroying over 100 shops, and another at Sofoline, destroying numerous properties.

Addressing the rampant outbreaks, Mr. Lahor announced NADMO’s Operation Seize All Market Fires, aimed at curbing the menace.

He cautioned traders using gas, firewood, and coal to be extra careful, as ashes can easily spark fires.

“The little mistakes you do can destroy properties,” he warned, emphasizing the need for caution.

Mr. Lahor also highlighted the role of irresponsible behavior, such as smoking Indian hemp (weed) in market areas, as a significant fire hazard.

“We are appealing to those who smoke these things to please stop it, because it can cause fire outbreaks,” he said.
