Chiefs And Drivers Of Kwahu Dwerease Calls For Speed Ramps And Road Signs To Help Reduse Road Accident

Chiefs and commercial drivers at Dwerebease in the Kwahu East District of the Eastern Region are calling on the relevant authorities to install speed ramps and road signs on the main stretch of road from Kwahu Praso to Dwerebrase to help reduce the increasing rate of road accidents.
Residents of Kwahu Dwerebease say the absence of speed ramps and visible road signs on the busy road from Kwahu Praso to Dwerebease has made the area prone to frequent accidents, which has killed five in few days posing danger to pedestrians, especially schoolchildren and the elderly.
The Chief of the Town Nana Omenako Yeboah III says several appeals have been made in the past, but little has been done to address the situation.
He therefore appealed to the government and stakeholders to help fix road signs to help reduce road accidents.
This road passes through the heart of our community. Vehicles move at top speed, and this has led to several accidents.
We are appealing to the authorities to help us with speed ramps and proper road signs to save lives.
The chief said this during one week observation of a young driver by name KWADWO OSARFO KANTANKA who was killed by an accident.
Commercial drivers who ply the route also share similar concerns, noting that the lack of traffic calming measures makes it difficult to control speeding motorists.
“When there are no speed ramps or signs, some drivers overspeed. If ramps and signs are provided, it will help reduce accidents and protect pedestrians.
End.
