Awutu Senya West Mp Condemns Violent Incedent Between Ostech And Swesbu.

Member of parliament for the Awutu Senya West Constituency, Gizela Tetteh Agbotui, has condemned the violence that characterized a district level inter-schools sporting competition at Agona Swedru.
The competition turned violent following the rekindling of an existing feud between some students of Swedru Business School and Obrachire Senior High Technical School.
Three students from OSTECH sustained injuries with one reportedly battling internal bleeding.
Beyond the GES’s internal investigations, the MP has also called for an in-depth investigations by police into last Thursday’s incident to ensure that perpetrators are sanctioned accordingly.
The member of parliament who spoke to Angel News also suggested the presence of state law enforcement officers at such events in the future to prevent such unfortunate circumstances.
Meanwhile, the various school heads and the students who were involved including the Central regional director of education have been summoned to a meeting at the national headquarters of the Ghana Education Service as part of ongoing investigations into the matter.
The Central Regional Education directorate has also placed a temporary ban on inter-schools sporting activities.
The directorate announced in a statement that “In view of the foregoing, and in the interest of safeguarding lives, maintaining order, and preserving the integrity of school sports, Management hereby directs the immediate cessation of all zonal inter-school sporting activities among Senior High Schools and Senior High Technical Schools in the Central Region, until further notice.”
This temporary measure is intended to enable Management to undertake a thorough “review of the prevailing situation, deliberate extensively with relevant stakeholders, and develop appropriate strategies and preventive mechanisms to forestall any recurrence of such violent incidents in our school sport”- according to the directorate.
