Three Arrested With AK-47 And Ammunition In Ahafo; One Suspect On The Run.

The Ghana Police Service in the Ahafo Region has arrested three suspects for unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition.

The Ahafo Regional Police Command arrested Johnson Mawutor, 26, Mawuli Dogba, and Kelvin Ofori, 22. Another suspect, Mohammed Adinan Ussif, is currently at large.

Speaking to the media, Ahafo Regional Police Commander, DCOP Mr. James Annor, said that on February 22, a regional police taskforce patrol team, while on duty along the Ayomso–Goaso road, spotted Johnson Mawutor and Kelvin Ofori riding an unregistered motorbike towards Ayomso.

According to him, upon seeing the police, the suspects switched off the motorbike’s headlights and attempted to flee.

However, the patrol team pursued and arrested them.

A search conducted on the suspects revealed one AK-47 assault rifle loaded with 29 rounds of ammunition concealed in a bag they were carrying.

Further search at Johnson Mawutor’s residence uncovered: One Beretta Bruni pistol, One NM157-1941 pistol 30 rounds of 9mm ammunition 50 rounds of AK-47 ammunition Four Motorola handsets One Contixo F35 drone One machete One bayonet knife One Security body armor vest.

One matchet Preliminary investigations indicate that Johnson Mawutor, Mawuli Dogba, and the suspect still at large allegedly obtained the weapons from Techiman.

DCOP Annor assured the public, particularly residents of the Ahafo Region, of the Command’s commitment to maintaining peace and security.

He urged the public to continue to report any suspicious activity to the police.
