A Mother And Three Children Dies In A Galamsey Pit.

A mother aged 42, and three children(boys only) have died in a galamsey pit at Wassa Dunkwa in the Amenfi West Municipality. The mother is aged 42 while the eldest child is 14 years old.

The incident happened on Saturday afternoon when the family went to fetch firewood which is close to the galamsey site. An eye witness narrating the story to Green Gold FM/TV reporter, said they sometimes go to that area to fetch the dried cocoa trees and use as firewood.

He added that, after fetching the firewood, the children took the lead and dropped their firewood at the roadside and decided to swim in the pit filled with water.

So their mother saw her children were drowning and made up her mind to save them. Unfortunately she couldn’t save them but also drowned with them.

The Asankrangwa Divisional Police came to the scene and took the bodies to the Catholic hospital in Asankragwa and are been keep at the morgue for an autopsy to be conducted.
