Ashaiman Police Bust Suspect In Ashaiman, Recover Weapons And Thousands Of Cedis.

A police patrol team operating within the Signature area in Ashaiman has arrested a suspect found in possession of a locally manufactured pistol and several other weapons.

The suspect, identified as Derick Duagy Wisdom, was arrested on March 9, 2026, at about 2:30a.m by a patrol team led by Chief Inspector Amidu Adams, who is in charge of the Patrol Team.

According to the police, the team spotted the suspect attempting to evade them during routine patrols in the area.

His behaviour raised suspicion, prompting the officers to conduct a search. During the search, the police discovered a locally manufactured pistol loaded with three BB cartridges on the suspect.

Following the arrest, the Ashaiman District Police Commander, Superintendent Orlando Joseph Adzokpa, together with his team, escorted the suspect to his residence located at Community 22 in Ashaiman, where a further search was conducted.

The search at the residence uncovered several items believed to be tools and weapons, including five cutlasses, one jack knife, a hunter’s torchlight, bunches of room and motor keys, three live BB cartridge ammunition, three empty shells, a pistol muzzle, a pinch bar, a saw cutter, a hammer, and a crowbar.

The Police also retrieved cash amounting to GH¢16,344 from the premises. All the items have been seized and retained by the police as exhibits for evidential purposes.

The suspect is currently in police custody and is expected to be formally charged and arraigned before court in the coming days.

The Ashaiman Police Command has reiterated its commitment to intensifying operations to clamp down on criminal activities in the municipality.

According to the command, it remains determined to “reset Ashaiman” by identifying and arresting criminal elements to ensure safety and security in the area.
