Broken-Hearted Palm Wine Tapper Arrested For Allegedly Burning Girlfriend And Family In Subrinkwanta.

A 23-year-old palm wine tapper, Prince, popularly known as “On God,” has been arrested for allegedly setting fire to the house of his girlfriend and her family members at Bibiani Subrinkwanta in the Western North Region.

According to Madam Poulina, a relative of the victims, she was working in Obuasi when she received a distress call from family members in Subrinkwanta.

She was told that the suspect had gone to their house searching for Benedicta Kudjo Felicia, a 19-year-old student of Queen Senior High School.

She explained that the family had previously warned the suspect to stay away from their home because Felicia was still a student and they did not approve of the relationship.

Madam Poulina further alleged that the suspect insisted he loved Felicia and threatened that if the family refused to allow him to marry her, he would set fire to the entire household.

Tragically, she later received another call informing her that the suspect had allegedly carried out the threat and set the house on fire.

Felicia was rushed to Bibiani Government Hospital, where she sadly succumbed to her injuries. Their mother, Maame Mary Oppong, 61, also died at Anhwiaso Community Hospital.

Another family member, Dora Adoma Kudjo, 22, who was transferred to Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital for further treatment, was later confirmed dead.

Madam Poulina said the suspect has since been arrested by the police, and investigations into the incident are currently ongoing.

The bereaved family and community leaders are appealing to the authorities to ensure justice is served.

Residents of Subrinkwanta have expressed shock and deep concern over the tragic incident, calling for stronger measures to protect young people and families from violence in relationships.
