Paramount Chief Of Lower Axim Calls For Peace And Urges End To Chieftaincy Dispute.

Awulae Attibrukusu III, the Paramount Chief of Lower Axim, has called on authorities and traditional leaders to maintain peace and prevent the resurgence of a long-resolved chieftaincy dispute between Lower Axim and Nsein.
Speaking at a press conference, Awulae Attibrukusu III emphasized that the issue concerning the jurisdictions of Nsein and Lower Axim was resolved many years ago, and he expressed concern that attempts are being made to revisit the matter.
According to him, the people of Lower Axim are peace-loving and have lived in harmony with their neighbors for decades.
He explained that during the era of former President Jerry John Rawlings, a meeting was held at the Regional Coordinating Council where the dispute was settled.
At that time, it was agreed that Awulae Agyefi Kwame would celebrate his traditional festival within Nsein, while Lower Axim would maintain its celebrations within its own jurisdiction.
Since that resolution, both communities have coexisted peacefully for about 38 years.
However, Awulae Attibrukusu III stated that recent comments and actions by Awulae Agyefi Kwame are stirring tension and anger among residents.
He noted that in the past, statements could be made without much scrutiny, but today claims must be supported with proper documentation.
The Paramount Chief stressed that the people of Lower Axim cannot be prevented from exercising their traditional rights or celebrating festivals within their own land.
Nana Awuza III, one of the sub Chiefs of Awulae Attibrukusu said the comment made by Nsein Chief is false and no one should give ear to it.
