Royal Bakers And Flour Users Association Pledges To Cut Unemployment, Appeals For Gov’t Support To Join 24-Hour Economy.

The President of the Royal Bakers and Flour Users Association, Madam Philomena Boakye Yiadom, has appealed to government to support the association with access to loans to enable them employ more youth and help reduce unemployment in the country.

Speaking at the official launch of the Association in Kumasi, Madam Boakye Yiadom said the group aims to boost the economy by training young people in bakery and pastry skills.

She noted that with proper financial support, members can expand their operations, set up more bakeries, and absorb unemployed youth across the country.

“We are ready to train and employ the youth, but we need government’s backing through soft loans and equipment support.

The bakery industry can take thousands of young people off the streets,” she stated.

The President also called on government to include bakers in its 24-hour economy policy.

She explained that most bakers already operate through the night to meet early morning demand, making them natural partners for the policy.

“Our members work overnight to ensure bread and pastries are ready by dawn.

If government integrates us into the 24-hour economy framework, we will create more shifts, employ more hands, and contribute significantly to national productivity,” she added.

Madam Boakye Yiadom further assured that the Association will actively participate in national development by improving product quality, adhering to food safety standards, and supporting government’s industrialization agenda.

The launch brought together bakers, flour distributors, and industry stakeholders from across the Ashanti Region.
