Ghana Government Hands Over Damang Mine To Engineers And Planners.

The Government of Ghana has officially handed over the Damang Mine to a team of engineers and planners to oversee its operations and future development.

The Damang Mine, located in the Western Region, has been transferred from its previous operators to a new technical team appointed by the state.

The move is part of government’s strategy to maximize local expertise and ensure sustainable management of the mine.
The handover comes amid renewed efforts to boost Ghana’s gold output and increase state participation in the mining sector.

Officials say the team will also prioritize environmental compliance, community development, and job creation for residents in the Damang catchment area.

The Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, Emmanuel Armah Kofi Buah, speaking at the official handing-over ceremony, said the engineers and planners will be responsible for re-assessing the mine’s assets, improving operational efficiency, and developing a long-term plan for the concession.

He added that the government will follow the operations of Engineers and Planners and ensure that there are no job losses, while also protecting the environment and avoiding irregularities.

The CEO of Engineers and Planners, Ibrahim Mahama, also speaking at the gathering, assured host communities of continuous support in terms of infrastructure development such as roads, schools, hospitals, etc.
