CR:Chaos in Mfantseman NPP as Over 180 Coordinators Seek Injunction Against Constituency Elections For Choosing Incumbent Chairman’s House As Voting Center And Delayed Of Album.

Confusion is brewing within the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Mfantseman Constituency after more than 180 polling station coordinators announced plans to seek an injunction to stop the upcoming constituency executive elections.

The coordinators are protesting the decision to hold the elections at the residence of the incumbent Constituency Chairman, who is also seeking re-election, and have also raised concerns over delays in the release of the party’s electoral album.

Addressing a press conference at the NPP constituency office in Mankessim, the leader of the aggrieved coordinators, Mr. Eric Kwesi Baffoe, described the decision to use the incumbent chairman’s residence as the polling venue as unfair, inappropriate, and capable of undermining the credibility of the electoral process.

According to him, the party has several neutral and accessible venues within the constituency that can accommodate the election.

He questioned why party executives would choose the private residence of a candidate in the election as the voting centre, arguing that such a decision could create an uneven playing field and raise doubts about the fairness of the exercise.

Mr. Baffoe further stated that the constituency elections are scheduled for Sunday, July 12, 2026, yet delegates have still not been provided with the certified electoral album.

He alleged that several coordinators have reported missing names and discrepancies in the provisional register, making it impossible for delegates to verify their eligibility before voting.

The coordinators say they will boycott the election unless the venue is changed to a neutral location and the complete delegates’ album is released and audited to ensure transparency and fairness.

Some of the aggrieved coordinators also expressed disappointment with the current constituency executives, accusing them of making decisions that could divide the party ahead of the elections.

They insisted that conducting the polls at the home of a contestant is unacceptable and contrary to the principles of fairness and internal democracy.

They warned that they would resist any attempt to proceed with the election under the current arrangements and called for an independent audit of the delegates’ album to restore confidence in the electoral process.

The group is therefore appealing to the National Executive Committee of the NPP to intervene immediately by changing the venue, releasing the verified electoral album, and ensuring that the elections are conducted in a transparent, free, and fair manner.

They cautioned that failure to address their concerns could result in tension and disrupt the peaceful conduct of the constituency elections.
