The Chief of Toase in the Ayensuano District of the Eastern Region, Barima Kwasi Nyale, and the Queen Mother, Nana Awo Aboama, have accused each other of the indiscriminate sale and grabbing of community lands and properties for personal gain, the situation has since generated some tension between the Chief and the Queen mother.

Addressing a press conference attended by the Chief and some residents of the community, the Chief accused the Queen Mother of engaging in activities that impede the progress and development of Otoase.

He said her alleged actions have angered the youth of the community, who are now calling for her destoolment.

The Chief further alleged that the Queen Mother has been involved in the indiscriminate sale of community lands and properties, claiming that she has allegedly taken over lands belonging to individuals and sold them, including portions of land designated as a cemetery.

In her response, the Queen Mother, Nana Awo Aboama, also accused the Chief of being behind the sale of community lands and the acquisition of properties belonging to the community.

She explained that most of the lands in question had been sold long before she was installed as Queen Mother, adding that she has since been able to reclaim several of them for the benefit of the community.

Nana Awo Aboama also highlighted several development projects she said she has undertaken using her personal resources, with support from a few other citizens of the area.
