Vip Bus Gutted By Fire At Abuakwa Station, Driver And Mate Escape Unhurt.

Commuters at the Abuakwa VIP station in the Atwima Nwabiagya South Municipality of the Ashanti Region were thrown into panic this evening after a VIP bus was gutted by fire while heading to the station to load passengers for Accra.
According to eyewitnesses, the incident occurred when the driver and his mate were driving the bus to the Abuakwa VIP terminal to pick up passengers.
Smoke was first noticed from the engine compartment before flames engulfed the vehicle.
The timely intervention of personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service helped to bring the fire under control and prevent it from spreading to nearby vehicles and structures.
Their swift response also helped to ease the heavy vehicular traffic that had built up on that stretch of the Abuakwa- Sunyani road following the incident.
It is alleged that the fire could have been caused by an electrical fault. However, the Ghana National Fire Service is yet to conduct a full investigation to confirm the actual cause.
No casualty was recorded in the incident. Both the driver and his mate escaped unhurt and are said to be in stable condition.
