Properties Worth Billions Of Cedis Destroyed, Over 200 Displaced After Fire Ravages Pelele In Asokore Mamapong.

Several properties worth billions of cedis have been destroyed after a devastating fire outbreak at Pale, a densely populated community in the Asokore Mampong Municipality of the Ashanti Region.

The inferno, which occurred on yesternight ,swept through several wooden structures and makeshift homes, reducing them to ashes and leaving residents in shock and despair.

According to victims, the fire started from one of the wooden structures and spread rapidly to adjoining homes due to the clustered nature of the area and the strong winds at the time. Efforts by residents to douse the flames proved futile as there was no immediate access to fire extinguishers or water.

Personnel of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) later arrived at the scene to bring the fire under control, but by then, several properties including home appliances, furniture, clothing, cash, and other personal belongings had already been consumed.

More than 200 people, including women, children, and the aged, have been displaced, with many will find it difficult to get a place to sleep.

Some of the victims, spoke to Sompa News in tears, said they have lost everything they have toiled for over the years and have nowhere to go.

“We have lost everything. Our clothes, mattresses, televisions, fridges, and even our money have all been burnt.

We are appealing to the government and NADMO to come to our aid,” a distraught victim lamented.
