Suame Inter-change Philanthropist Creates New Lorry Terminal For Stranded Drivers At Breman West.

The quest to ensure regular traffic flow in the Ashanti Region has left many commercial drivers without designated lorry stations stranded, particularly those operating in and around Suame, Breman and Maakro.

The ongoing construction of the Suame Interchange, coupled with the massive evacuation exercise by city authorities to clear roadside traders and illegal loading points, has severely affected the daily operations of Trotro and Sprinter drivers who depended on those roadside spots.

Many of these drivers have been forced to load and offload in unsafe and unauthorized areas, causing heavy traffic congestion and increasing the risk of accidents.

In a bid to alleviate their plight, a native of Breman and renowned philanthropist, Mr. Yaw Asiamah, has intervened by creating a vast, well-demarcated lorry terminal at Breman West for all affected drivers and car owners.

According to Mr. Asiamah, his intervention was motivated by compassion and the need to support government’s efforts to decongest the roads.

“I listened to the cries of our drivers, especially those who have been hit by the Suame Interchange evacuation.

They are struggling daily, and I felt the need to help them,” he stated.

He disclosed that the main objective for establishing the new terminal is to allow free flow of traffic, reduce congestion, and prevent road accidents which have become rampant due to indiscriminate stopping and loading.

“The rate at which traffic occurs on our roads is mainly because drivers do not have proper stations to alight and load passengers.

That is why they often stay in the middle of the road to load, which causes accidents and traffic jams,” he explained.

Mr. Asiamah has therefore called on all stranded drivers within the Suame Municipality, including those from Breman, Maakro, and Kronum, to take advantage of the facility and relocate to the new terminal at Breman West, where a vast space has been created to accommodate hundreds of vehicles.

He assured that the terminal is spacious, well-organized, and strategically located to serve passengers travelling to various destinations within and outside Kumasi.

Some of the drivers who have already been relocated to the terminal expressed immense joy and relief.

They commended Mr. Asiamah for his timely support and described him as a true helper of the transport business.

“We were really suffering after we were evacuated.

Now we have a decent place to work. We call on other drivers who are still by the roadside to come and join us because there is enough space for everyone,” a driver said.

They also appealed to the Suame Municipal Assembly and the police to recognize the new terminal and direct more passengers to the area to boost their business.
