Residents In Berekum East Are Angry Over Fire Service Officers

At least 4 bedroom house with hall, kitchen and other properties have been lost to fire in Berekum.

The fire that started this morning has destroyed a 4-bedroom house and other properties in Berekum.

Speaking to some of the eyewitnesses, I saw smoke gushing out of the house and, in no time, an uncontrollable fire consuming the house.

Residents say they invited the fire service in Berekum, but the service could not help since their fire tender is malfunctioning. People around had to resort to fetching water from their homes to help quench the fire but all to no avail due to the intensity of the fire. Though no life was affected by several properties were destroyed by the fire.

Some agitated residents lament over why the Berekum fire tender has been spoiled for over 2 years now without any particular attention to it. They are appealing to the newly elected MP to make it a priority to provide Berekum and its environs with a new fire tender to take care of these issues.
