Govt Urged To Establish Sanitation Court For Indiscriminate Waste Disposal – DCE Hon Patricia Pearl Ankrah.

The District Chief Executive for Afigya Kwabre South in the Ashanti Region, Hon Patricia Pearl Ankrah, has called on government to establish a sanitation court to prosecute recalcitrant residents who dispose of refuse indiscriminately.
According to her, many Ghanaians are unwilling to adhere to good sanitation practices despite continuous education.
She made the call during a massive clean-up exercise organized by the Assembly at Afrancho. Hon Ankrah revealed that this was the second time the Assembly had visited Afrancho for clean-up, yet turnout remained low.
The DCE disclosed that although several people have been fined for poor sanitation practices, the problem persists.
She said the Assembly will enforce the law and take recalcitrant residents who dump refuse indiscriminately to court for severe punishment.
“The establishment of a dedicated sanitation court will help deal decisively with offenders and serve as a deterrent,” Hon Ankrah stated.
Meanwhile the District Environmental Health Analysis Mr Kwame kusi Agyemang Badu expressed disappointment in the low participation of the clean up exercise by the residents.
He revealed that, they are going to put strict measures in place to curtail the poor sanitation issues at Afrancho.
