Floodwaters Halt Traffic On Biriwa Highway; NADMO Cites Assembly Negligence.

Commuters faced significant delays and disruptions today as floodwaters inundated sections of the Biriwa highway, creating a major roadblock on the crucial route connecting Cape Coast, Mankessim, and Accra.
Disaster management officials have been on the scene, working to rescue stranded vehicles and clear the affected areas.

According to central regional director Mr. Kwesi Dawood of the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO), the severe waterlogging is a consequence of what he described as negligence by the Mfantseman municipal assembly.
He explained that one Mr. Frempong who has caused all this problem for feeling the water logg area.

“Since morning, a lot of people traveling from Takoradi to Accra and from Accra, Mankessim through to Cape Coast to Takoradi have been locked at the Biriwa Yamorasah highway,” stated Mr. Dawood, highlighting the widespread impact of the obstruction.
The situation has left numerous travelers stranded, causing considerable inconvenience and potential economic losses due to the halted transit.

NADMO is reportedly working diligently to manage the immediate crisis, focusing on the safe evacuation of individuals and their vehicles from the flooded zones.
The organization is also assessing the extent of the damage and the necessary steps to restore normal traffic flow on this vital transportation artery.
