Tanker Drivers In Kumasi Begin 3-Day Sit-Down Strike.

Tanker drivers in Kumasi have begun a 3-day sit-down strike today, August 17, 2026, over concerns with meter reading and parking arrangements.

According to reports, the drivers parked their fuel tankers, raising concerns over prolonged disruptions to fuel supply in the Ashanti Region and beyond.

The drivers say the strike is to draw attention to issues affecting their operations, particularly with meter reading procedures and inadequate parking facilities.

Images from the scene show a long queue of tanker trucks stationed at a fuel depot, with drivers refusing to move until their concerns are addressed.

Industry watchers warn that if the strike persists beyond the 3 days, it could lead to fuel shortages and affect supply to various parts of the region.

This development comes amid public concerns about operations at BOST, with some Ghanaians questioning management and service delivery at the facility.

In an interview with our news reporter, Bismark Mensah, the regional chairman, Mr. Kwadwo Brenya, had this to say.

Authorities are yet to comment on the drivers’ demands.

We will keep you updated on any developments and whether an agreement is reached to end the strike.
