Assin Nsuta One Dead, Several Injured In Articulated Truck Collision On Cape Coast–Kumasi Highway.

One person has been confirmed dead while several others sustained serious injuries following a collision involving two articulated trucks at the outskirts of Assin Nsuta along the Cape Coast–Kumasi Highway on Wednesday night.

The accident occurred at about 11:12 p.m. on May 21, 2026.

Personnel from the Central North Regional Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) together with the Regional Operations Unit rushed to the scene to rescue trapped victims from the mangled vehicles.

The injured included the driver of a Shackman articulated truck, identified as Gariba Daniel, 33, as well as two passengers, Vincent Anamman Ofosu, 36, and Bridget Dadzie, 25.

They were transported to the St. Francis Xavier Hospital at Assin Foso for treatment.

However, Vincent Anaman was pronounced dead on arrival, while Gariba Daniel and Bridget Dadzie the wife of the deceased remain on admission receiving treatment.

The body of the deceased has been deposited at the hospital morgue for preservation and autopsy.

The driver of the second vehicle, identified as Yaya Latif, 38, and his driver’s mate, Issah Mohammed, who also sustained injuries, are receiving treatment at the Assin Anyinabrim Health Clinic.

The Central North Regional MTTD Commander, ASP Wonder Lumor, explained that Preliminary police investigations indicate that the Shackman articulated truck, with registration number GX 3858-25, loaded with klinka and travelling from Takoradi towards Kumasi, allegedly ran into a pothole upon reaching the outskirts of Assin Nsuta.

Police say the impact caused the driver to lose control, veer into the opposite lane, and crash into the rear trailer and tyres of a Howo flatbed articulated truck with registration number GT 8837-23, which was travelling from the opposite direction.

Both vehicles suffered extensive damage in the collision. The Howo truck reportedly veered into a nearby bush, while the Shackman truck came to rest at the roadside.

Police and emergency personnel later cleared the road to restore the smooth flow of traffic.

The case is currently under investigation by the Central North Regional MTTD.
