Atwima Nwabiagya South Residents, Drivers Protest Contractor’s Abandonment Of Road Project.
Atwima Nwabiagya South Municipality, Ashanti Region Residents and drivers of Darkowaa, Anyamesem, Ahwia, Bankyease, and Ntabaanu in the Atwima Nwabiagya South Municipality have expressed frustration over contractor M/S KNATO COMPLEX LTD, which allegedly removed all equipment and tools from a road construction site and halted work.
Speaking in an interview, Assembly Member Hon. Yussif Yaya said the contractor was caught selling cement to community members.
When questioned, the contractor claimed there was no money available to continue the project.
Hon. Yaya stated that he had informed both the Municipal Chief Executive and the Regional Minister about the contractor abandoning the site, but said no action has been taken so far.
Residents and drivers say the abandoned project is worsening transportation challenges in the area, making movement of people and goods more difficult.
The residents are now appealing to the government to provide the necessary support to enable the contractor to return to site and complete the work.
The chief of the area, Barimaba Nana Adu Boahen, is urging authorities to intervene urgently to prevent further deterioration of the road and ease the burden on commuters.
