KMA Boss Clashes With Santasi Roundabout Traders Over Eviction For Road Project, Vows To Clear All Structures.

Tension escalated at the Santasi Roundabout in the Nhyeaso electoral area of the Ashanti Region this morning as shop owners clashed with the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly Boss, Hon. Richard Ofori Boadi Agyemang, popularly known as King Zuba, over an eviction notice.

The traders had earlier expressed anger over a directive from the KMA to vacate their current trading spaces, claiming the Assembly failed to specify where they should relocate to.

“We are not against relocation, but tell us where we are going. You can’t just sack us to an unknown place. How do we feed our families?” one aggrieved shop owner told Sompa News.

The traders, who deal in spare parts, provisions, clothing, and other goods, say they were given short notice to leave the area with no clear alternative site provided.

They fear the move will collapse their businesses that rely heavily on foot traffic at the busy roundabout.

“We’ve been here for years. Our customers know us here.

If KMA wants us to move, they should prepare a proper place for us first,” another trader insisted.

The situation turned heated when Hon. Richard Ofori Agyemang visited the scene this morning and was met with fierce resistance from the traders.

Addressing the traders and the media, the KMA Boss maintained that the Assembly will go ahead with the exercise as part of measures to pave way for road construction.

“We are going to clear every container or shop on the way that will prevent the construction of the road. The project must go on,” King Zuba stated firmly.
