Rainfall 20month-Old Boy Dead, 3 female Injured.

A 20 month-old baby boy has died while three female sustained severe injuries at Tantri in Cape Coast after a mudslide collapsed their building during a more than 7hrs downpour on yesterday friday, 19th June 2026.

The mudslide struck around 4:45pm, crashing three structures just beneath a hill and bringing down the building on four people.

The victims 43-year-old Elizabeth Kyeredeh, 25-year-old Maame Badua, 17-year-old BECE graduate Ella, and 20-month-old Hanson Mensah were rushed to Ewim Polyclinic where Hanson was pronounced dead.

Ella,who sustained a deep cut to her head, was referred to the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital due to the severity of her injury.

Narrating the incident, Uncle Richard Joachim, the Ebusuapanyin of the area, said it was the first time a mudslide had occurred there.

He explained that all four victims had taken shelter in one room when the incident happened, while other family members rushed out after hearing a loud noise.
He appeal for support from well meaning persons would be appreciated.

Aunty Rose, grandmother of the deceased toddler, recounted the painful situation the family now faces. Her daughter and granddaughter remain bedridden at the hospital.

Sabastina Anthony, sister to Elizabeth Kyeredeh, narrated the severity of her sister’s injuries.

Elizabeth is currently on admission at the Emergency Ward of Ewim Hospital and lost all her belongings in the disaster.
