Oguaa And Edina Chiefs Mount Pressure On Tourism Minister Over Castle Royalties.

The Oguaa Traditional Council in the Cape Coast Metropolis of the Central Region has called on President John Mahama and his government to immediately pay royalties from Cape Coast Castle to the Traditional Council.

The call was made during a Cape Coast Second-Edition of the 8-Year Development Plan Forum & Fundraising at UCC, which was attended by government officials, chiefs,businesses men, prominent individuals and other stakeholders.

Addressing the gathering, the Omanhene of the Oguaa Traditional Area, Osabarima Kwesi Atta II, urged the Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Hon. Dzifa Gomashie, to allocate a portion of the revenue and ticket sales from Cape Coast Castle as royalties to the Traditional Council and the local assembly for community development.

The Oguaa Omanhene’s statement follows a similar demand made by the Edina Omanhene a few days ago, who said traditional areas that host castles also deserve better.
