Gov’t Must Consider Putting Up High Storey Buildings To Save Lands – Building Engineer.
The government has been urged to prioritize the construction of high-rise buildings as part of efforts to address land scarcity, population growth and the increasing pressure on available land in the capital.
According to Mr. Emmanuel A. Pobee an Engineer who doubles as the CEO for Heaven Royal Residence , adopting policies that encourage vertical development could help maximize the use of limited land while providing accommodation for the growing population.
The call comes amid concerns over encroachment on wetlands and Ramsar sites, which have been linked to flooding in parts of the capital.
Government authorities have recently intensified efforts to demolish structures considered to be occupying waterways and other environmentally sensitive areas.
The Founder of Haven Royal Residence, Mr. Emmanuel A. Pobee noted that the pressure on land is partly driven by rapid population growth and the desire of residents to secure better housing and living conditions.
He argued that promoting high-rise developments could provide an alternative to the continued expansion of settlements onto wetlands and other environmentally sensitive areas.
The call was made during the commissioning of The Haven Royal Residence*, where concerns were raised over the growing demand for land for residential and commercial development.
