Government Focused On Manifest Promises Despite Economic Pressure- Vice-President.
The Vice‑President of Ghana, Prof. Jean Naana Opoku‑Agyemang, explained that the government assumed office at a particularly challenging time and has had to deal with economic pressures and development demands.
According to her, the government has remained focused on implementing policies and programmes from the NDC manifesto that improve the lives of every Ghanaian, such as better road infrastructure, expanded educational opportunities, and schools equipped with necessary materials.
Meanwhile, the government is committed to decentralised development projects that directly respond to communities’ needs.
She also highlighted the historic increase in allocations to the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF).
The Vice‑President called on the chiefs to work together with the government in pursuit of the Central Region’s interests.
The Vice‑President made the remarks when she paid a courtesy call to the Central Regional House of Chiefs in Cape Coast on Friday, 31 July 2026.
Her visit was to thank the people of the region for their warm support during the 2024 general elections.
Speaking on behalf of the House, the President of the Central Regional House of Chiefs, Odeefuo Amoakwa Boadu VIII, praised the government for stabilising the economy and pushing forward major development projects nationwide.
He acknowledged interventions such as the Big Push programme and the continuation of the Agenda 111 hospital projects in the region.
Odeefuo further commended the Finance Minister, Hon. Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, who also hails from the region, for his tremendous work in improving the country’s economy.
“We never thought our beloved son Ato Forson would be performing so well in such a demanding ministry. Ato is performing and he is performing well.
Therefore, thanks goes to Mr. President and the Vice‑President for having faith in our son Ato Forson.”
The President of the House, Odeefuo, also highlighted issues requiring attention from the Vice‑President and the government, including youth employment, road infrastructure, and other strategic projects within the Central Region.
