Police install CCTV surveillance system at galamsey site in Gomoa Oguakrom To Evade Arrest.

The Gomoa Central District Assembly says suspected illegal miners mounted CCTV cameras around their mining site to detect approaching security personnel and assembly officials, giving them enough time to escape before raids.

A recent operation led by the District Chief Executive, Hon. Hackman Kobina Aidoo, resulted in the destruction of mining equipment and temporary structures used for the illegal activities.

According to the Assembly, the exercise is part of ongoing efforts to combat illegal mining, safeguard the environment, protect water bodies, and reduce the destruction caused by galamsey.
