Four CHPS Compounds Constructed To Expand Free Primary Healthcare In Dormaa West — DCE.
The Dormaa West District Chief Executive, Hon. Stephen Azorba Awuni, has disclosed that the Assembly has constructed four Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compounds across the district to support and expand access to free primary healthcare.
Speaking at the commissioning of the Dormaa West NHIS District Office, the DCE said two of the four CHPS compounds have been completed, while work on the remaining two is nearing completion.
He expressed appreciation for the new NHIS office and said the introduction of free primary healthcare under the Mahama administration would help improve access to basic healthcare.
He, however, stressed that more development efforts are needed to sustain the country’s progress.
Meanwhile, the Bono Regional Director of the NHIS, Mr. Isaac Badu Amponsah, said the new office would improve registration and renewal services, reduce waiting times and create space for outreach and public education.
He said the NHIS would focus on expanding population coverage, service coverage and financial protection, with efforts to enrol more residents and reactivate inactive memberships.
Mr. Badu Amponsah urged staff to maintain the facility, keep the premises clean and serve members with courtesy, integrity and efficiency.
He also encouraged residents of Dormaa West to take advantage of the office to register, renew and update their NHIS membership.
