KAERBO FOR AFRICA is a Danish non-governmental organization working in Ghana to support vulnerable and deprived communities, with a particular focus on education, healthcare, and the welfare of children.

The organization is registered in Ghana as Kaerbo Village Island Foundation, with its work focused on identifying community needs and developing practical interventions that improve the lives and opportunities of children and families, she said.

KAERBO FOR AFRICA was established through a commitment to supporting communities where children and other vulnerable people face barriers to accessing essential services.

On his part, The Secretary for KEARBO FOR AFRICA Mr. Joseph Oduro speaking to the media noted that, they have played an important role in the organization’s community work and has undertaken the feasibility studies that helped identify areas of need and guide KAERBO FOR AFRICA’s interventions in Ghana.

He said KAERBO FOR AFRICA began its community intervention work in the Volta Region of Ghana, where the organization identified a serious challenge affecting schoolchildren.

Some children were unable to attend school regularly because they depended on boats to cross the Volta Lake, and on occasions when a boat was not available, they could not cross the lake to attend school, he added.

Mr. Joseph hinted that, Recognizing that transportation was directly affecting the children’s education, KAERBO FOR AFRICA provided an outboard motor boat to help the children cross the lake and gain access to school.

The organization also supported the school with essential teaching and learning materials.

In addition, solar lamps were provided to help improve the children’s ability to study, particularly in circumstances where reliable electricity was not available.

He continued that, this initial intervention reflected KAERBO FOR AFRICA’s approach: identifying practical challenges that prevent children from receiving an education and providing direct support to address those challenges.

Following its work in the Volta Region, KAERBO FOR AFRICA expanded its activities to the Central Region of Ghana, particularly the community of Nyannyanor.

One of the organization’s major interventions in Nyanyano was the construction of the Nyannyanoman Secondary Technical School.

The Secondary Technical school represents an important investment in education and in the future of young people in the community.

By supporting access to secondary and technical education, KAERBO FOR AFRICA seeks to create opportunities for young people to acquire knowledge and practical skills that can contribute to their future development.

KAERBO FOR AFRICA also recognized that children’s education cannot be separated from their health and wellbeing.

The organization therefore supported children attending Nyanyano Methodist Primary School by registering the schoolchildren on Ghana’s National Health Insurance Scheme, helping them gain access to healthcare when needed.

In addition, KAERBO FOR AFRICA has provided medical materials to the Nyanyano Health Centre, supporting the local health facility in its efforts to serve people within the community.

Another important part of KAERBO FOR AFRICA’s work is supporting children who have lost parental care or who are otherwise vulnerable.

The organization currently supports approximately 15 orphaned children, providing them with monthly financial assistance for their upkeep.

This support is intended to contribute to their basic welfare and help ensure that these children receive the care and support they need.

KAERBO FOR AFRICA believes that every child deserves the opportunity to grow in a safe and supportive environment, regardless of their circumstances.

The Organization works in Ghana focuses particularly on

• Supporting children who face barriers to attending school.

• Providing teaching and learning materials.

KAERBO FOR AFRICA believes that sustainable community development begins with listening to communities and understanding their actual needs.

Our projects are therefore based on identifying practical challenges and developing interventions that can make a direct difference in people’s lives.

From providing a boat for children who needed to cross the Volta Lake to reach school, to constructing a secondary technical school in Nyannyano, supporting children’s health insurance and providing assistance to orphaned children, KAERBO FOR AFRICA’s work is centred on giving children and communities opportunities for a better future.

A future where every child, regardless of their circumstances or where they live, has access to education, healthcare, protection and the opportunity to build a better life.

To improve the lives of vulnerable children and deprived communities in Ghana by supporting education, healthcare, child welfare and practical community development initiatives.

KAERBO FOR AFRICA remains committed to working alongside communities in Ghana to identify challenges, develop practical solutions and create opportunities for children and vulnerable people.

We believe that investing in children, education and health is an investment in the future of communities and the nation as a whole.

Our work is driven by compassion, community needs and the belief that meaningful change can begin with one practical intervention that makes a difference in a child’s life.

Mr Joseph has debunked the a statement by the former District Executive Officer for Gomoa East Hon. Solomon Darko Quarm that the school facility was built by Netherlands pointing out that the infrastructure was built by KEARBO FOR AFRICA in Denmark.

KAERBO FOR AFRICA intends to continue building on its experience in Ghana by supporting communities where children and vulnerable people face significant barriers to education, healthcare and basic welfare.

Through partnerships, community engagement and support from donors and development partners, the organization seeks to expand its ability to reach more children and communities in need.

Despite facing infrastructure challenges, the school has continued to record encouraging academic results.

Meanwhile, the Ankobeahene of Gomoa Nyanyano, Nana Ayi-Quaye I, has expressed joy and appreciation to the Organization and appealed for the establishment of additional school blocks as Oliver Twist always ask for more.

According to him, the infrastructure deficit facing the school could affect the current academic performance of the students if urgent measures are not taken.

He therefore called on the organisation, government and other stakeholders to support the school with the needed infrastructure to sustain and improve its academic performance.
