About 137 Abidjan Returnees Depart Cape Coast For Hometowns As DCEs Facilitate Transport.

The 137 Ghanaians evacuated from Abidjan, Ivory Coast, who were convened at the Cape Coast Regional Coordinating Council yesterday morning, have been handed over to various District Chief Executives, DCEs, for onward transportation to their hometowns.
The returnees, who arrived in the country on Friday, June 12, 2026, following the demolition of homes by Ivorian security forces, were provided with vehicles to convey them to their respective districts.
Some returnees on board to Moree Community expressed their happiness at the prospect of reuniting with their families after many years away.
Hon. Daniel Mensah Wandly, District Chief Executive for Abura-Asebu-Kwamankese District, who facilitated vehicles for his constituents, said the assembly and the Member of Parliament for the area, Hon. Felix Kwakye Ofosu, have plans in place to support the returnees with resettlement and livelihood packages.
The returnees undergo routine health checks before being integrated into their communities.
